Canada unfortunately has a legacy of sexual assault that dates back to the days of the Indian Residential Schools. Sexual assault occurs in a variety of situations beyond the residential school system, including assaults which occur in institutions and assaults which occur either within families or within communities. Sexual assault cases require an understanding of the law specific to liability in circumstances of sexual assault and as well an understanding and compassionate approach to the victims of sexual assault who have often suffered for years in silence. At Rose Keith Law Corporation we have over 20 years experience representing survivors of the Indian Residential School system, survivors of sexual assault in other institutions and survivors of familial sexual assault. We take great pride in the role that we have played in helping many survivors achieve some measure of closure through litigation or obtaining compensation for the harms that have been done to them.
